Before long-term missions abroad, you need to be sure that your employees are healthy – that’s why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has chosen more thorough health checks. We talked about our experience with Elery Rooba, a specialist in the Foreign Ministry‘s human resources department. Pictured is the 2023 World Cleanup Day at the Siselinna Cemetery.
Employee peace of mind
According to Elery Rooba, expectations for occupational health at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have always been higher than usual. “We have always had very thorough health checks to make sure that our employees can perform their duties abroad. Especially since the missions last several years,” explains Rooba. This is why abdominal ultrasounds and stress tests are particularly valued among HeBA services. It is important that people feel confident that their health is fine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also values the opportunity for both employees and employers to personally consult with an occupational health doctor. Especially from the employer’s perspective, it is important that communication is direct and easy. “I have always received quick answers to all my problems and questions,” Rooba praises.
