If, as a manager, you notice unusual behavior or a strong change in the emotions of the employee, such as crying or sudden outbursts of anger, changes in his/her usual style of communication, talk to him/her immediately. Encourage the employee to be open and confirm that the conversation is confidential.
You can ask the employee the following questions:
Is everything well and if the employee answers yes, ask if he or she is sure.
Whether there are any worries or problems at work or outside of work.
Has the employee told his/her friends or family about the problem?
Has the employee sought the help of a doctor/psychologist?
Does the employee agree that the manager recommends professional mental health counselling?
